Hey High School People!

Can you believe another year is done? It seems like just yesterday that I was thinking, “Wow, 2010…What an awesome year this is going to be!” Well, it certainly has been a great year of fun and fellowship, gathering and growth, service and celebration!  I’m thankful to be a part of what God is doing here at Saxe Gotha and within our community, and I’m thankful that you are a part of it, too.

We have a lot to look forward to in 2011! Of course, I’m excited about all the fun times, events, and service opportunities we will experience together in the year to come, but I’m more excited about seeing how God will move within and through us. I can’t wait to see young people growing closer to Christ, and hope that many will come to know Him this year.  It is going to be great to see all the ways that God will show up and surprise us in 2011.  I hope that you will find here, a place where you can ask tough questions, find encouragement, and experience the fullness of Christ.

Remember…our staff and volunteers care deeply about you, and are here for you! We want to walk together with you through the valleys and over the mountain tops! Please let us know about your school activities, schedules, and happenings, and, more importantly, how we can help navigate the crazy waters of your high school journey.

H₂O – It’s our mid-week time together on Wednesdays, jam packed with fun, fellowship, and growth in God’s Word. You don’t want to miss this!

Sunday Mornings – Saxe Gotha has many opportunities for you to worship and grow with traditional and contemporary worship services as well as great Sunday school classes with friends and caring teachers.

D Teams -  A smaller environment to be with friends and explore God’s Truth – This is a great time together with some teams meeting on Sunday evenings here at SGPC, and others meeting off campus throughout the week.

Special Events and Trips – Throughout the year, we are planning awesome events and trips to provide opportunities for FUN, GROWTH, & SERVICE. 

You can see listed below many of the events from the past year and here are some of the ways we will serve, grow, and have fun together soon: Outreach to the homeless at Finlay Park; the High School Ski Trip return to WINTERPLACE, January 7-9, 2011, with special TENTH AVENUE NORTH concert; the “Souper Bowl of Caring” on Sunday, February 6, 2011; the 30 Hour Famine; and more!  Also, JUST ANNOUNCED, our Student Life SUMMER MISSION CAMP (that’s a mission trip and a camp trip combined!) at Lee University, June 26 – July 1, 2011!!!

RECENT EVENTS – Youth Day at Presbyterian College; Operation Turkey during Thanksgiving; Operation Christmas Child trip to Charlotte Distribution Center; October Fall Retreat @ Awanita; OCC Shoebox Packing Party; MOVE Conference in Tennessee; Hangin’ at Moe’s & Chick-fil-A in L’town; the ALL NIGHT High School LOCK OUT; Serving with Harvest Hope Food Bank; Carowinds & the Big (Flooded) Youth Thing; the Camp Bahamas Mission Trip, and the awesome “To Save A Life” Movie Event and series!!!  What an incredible year with our high school youth here at Saxe Gotha!  As you can see, there’s a place for you…a place where you can belong and serve with fellow students here at Saxe Gotha.

And guess what?  God’s not finished with us yet…There’s more to come!
