40 DAYS IN THE WORD!!

We hope that you've seen lots of information about 40 Days in the Word and the formation of new Small Groups.  In a nutshell, we are asking everyone to participate in a new Small Group for 7 weeks.  You will be asked to sign a contract agreeing to read scripture each day (LOVE the Word), to memorize scripture (LEARN the Word), and to allow God's word to transform your life!!! The third thing you will be asked to do is to LIVE the Word - which means your words and actions need to reflect God's Word.

 Frequently Asked Questions:

·         Why are we doing this study?  Saxe Gotha is doing “40 Days in the Word” for 3 main reasons:  1) to learn how to study God’s word, 2) to encourage people to join a small group, and 3) to reach out to our neighbors and co-workers by inviting them to a great Bible study. 

·         When does this study start?  The kick-off sermon will be February 12^th and the small groups will start the week of February 19^th.

·         How often do we meet?  Small groups will meet once a week, starting the week of Feb. 19^th.  Each small group will decide when they will meet.

·         How long does this study last? There are 6 lessons on the DVD, each lesson about 30 minutes. We are encouraging the groups to have a 7^th session to celebrate and talk about whether they want to continue to do anything together in the future.

·         When do the small groups meet?  We’re leaving that up to the hosts and the small groups.  Y’all decide when is the best time to meet for your group.

·         Who can be in my small group?  Anyone!  Feel free to not only invite other church members but also your neighbors, co-workers, friends and family.

·         How do I get the materials?  The church has ordered the DVDs and books and we will be asking the hosts to pick them up.  If you would like to order your own, please visit www.saddleback.com (this is the church leading the national campaign) and select the 40 Days in the Word link for ordering information.

·         How much does it cost?  We are asking each participant to pay $15 to not only cover the cost of the workbook but also the DVD. If a couple would like to share a book then the cost is just $15.

·         How much homework is involved? In the workbook there is just one page per day of homework, which can be completed in approximately 15 minutes.

·         I think I’d like to host.  Who do I contact for more information?  Please email Helen Harrison Coker

·         I would like to host but I will be out of town for several weeks – what should I do?  We would encourage you to find a co-host to work with you and help host when you are out-of-town.
