Dear Friends and Members of SGPC,
As many of you know, Lexington’s Race Against Hunger (LRAH) just completed its eleventh annual race. Nearly $5,000 of the $30,000 raised goes towards the support of 13 children, and one family in 14 countries around the world. When the race began in 2001, Reverend Bill Green was one of the driving forces behind its success. He had a great passion for Missions Ministries and reaching the hungry children in all the corners of the world. LRAH gives us the opportunity to sponsor some of these children, and to communicate Christ’s love to them. All children not only have a need for sustenance, but for friendship, acceptance and love. They need to hear the good news of the gospel, so that they may find hope and comfort through God’s promises.
Would you like to help a child in another country who needs love and support?
A great way to support these children is to dedicate a few minutes of your time, four times a year, to write an encouraging letter to a World Vision child. Your support and love means so much to these children. One of our children who grew up in a very poor community in India, wrote back to us and their sponsor family last year, “I am so very happy and grateful for being my sponsor and sponsoring me and also keeping in touch with me all these years. I wish to promise at this moment that your gesture to help me has motivated me to do something for the development of my country in the future.”
Yes, financial support is very important for the physical survival of our World Vision children, but keeping in touch and sharing our friendship and love is just as important for their emotional and spiritual survival. Only God knows what great things this child may do in the future to uplift their community. How amazing it is that a race in Lexington, SC, once a year and the letters of the members of this body of Christ, can make such an important difference in the future of a child in India. Your letters teach children around the world that they are loved by Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church and more importantly, that they are loved by God. Please prayerfully consider becoming a World Vision letter writer, as we are currently in need of a few writers. Contact Pansy Floyd at the church business office, 359-7770 ext.37, or email her at pfloyd@saxegotha.org now to start a new friendship with a World Vision child
Thank you in advance for showing a child the love of Christ.
